Celebrate Spring:

Seasonal Wedding Flowers and a DIY Table Bowl

Spring is quietly unfurling at Kokutan. The garden is stirring, catkins and newly emerging willow tips catch the light, deciduous shrubs are sending out tender green shoots, and the glasshouse hums with life, sheltering, scented narcissus, anemones, ranunculus, stock and wallflowers that have wintered patiently. There is something deeply hopeful in these early signs of the season, a gentle reminder that weddings, like gardens, thrive when we work with the rhythm of nature.

Spring Wedding Inspiration: Make a Seasonal Bowl Arrangement

For a fresh take on wedding table flowers, we love the idea of a Spring Bowl Centerpiece. This can work beautifully as a large piece for a registrar’s table in a Pippi & Me Extra Big Porcelain Bowl (Photographed here), or in a Big/Medium Bowl: as a guest table centerpiece.

Here’s how we do it:

  • Take a piece of chicken wire about two times the diameter of your bowl, fold it into two layers, and gently squash it into the bowl to form a supportive base.

  • Fix in place with pot tape.

  • Add water

  • Start by placing some of your seasonal greens in the bowl for structure and shape.

  • Fill with seasonal flowers; hellebores, scented narcissus, anemones, ranunculus, tulips, stock and wallflowers.

  • Add a few catkins or freshly emerging willow tips for a touch of natural elegance and height.

The result is a lush, seasonal arrangement that feels organic and effortlessly beautiful.

A Tip for Hellebores

Hellebores are one of spring’s most subtle and enchanting flowers. The secret to keeping them at their best is not to cut them until the seed pods are swollen. This allows the plant to maintain its strength and gives you flowers that last longer in a vase.

Ideas for Spring Weddings and how to work with your local flower farmer

Embrace the garden’s seasonal palette rather than insisting on exact varieties. Flexibility allows your bouquets and arrangements to shine with seasonal freshness.

  • A larger bowl for a registrar table paired with smaller guest table bowls keeps the styling cohesive yet playful.

  • Consider layering textures and heights, mix soft flowers like ranunculus and anemone with the architectural stems of stock, tulips or willow.

Spring weddings are all about new beginnings. The flowers are at their freshest and the garden itself is a gentle inspiration for colour, scent and form.

We’ll be sharing more seasonal arrangements, DIY tips, and ideas for wedding flowers in the coming months. In the meantime, enjoy the first hints of spring wherever you are.
